Brand History: Balenciaga was founded in 1917 in Spain by Cristóbal Balenciaga, later moving to Paris in 1937. It gained new fame under Nicolas Ghesquière (1997–2012), then Alexander Wang, and now Demna (since 2015), who brought streetwear, irony, and strong social commentary to the brand.
