Description:

From one of the world’s most reputable names in watchmaking this is the iconic Rolex Oyster!

This is a vintage model, manufactured in 1969 and comes in beautiful aesthetic and working condition for its age. It features all the Rolex hallmarks expected on a sports model from this time period, including but not limited to: a Rolex Oyster case, a Rolex in-house precision mechanical movement with handwind function, screwdown crown, smooth sweeping seconds hand as well applied indexes and Rolex “Coronet” emblem at 12 o’clock. This is a fantastic example of a clean and classic Rolex with both vintage and contemporary accents.

The watch comes in a stainless steel 34mm Rolex Oyster case with 19mm lug width. This watch case features drilled lugs. It has a stainless steel mirror polished smooth bezel surrounding a domed acrylic crystal. The winding crown features the Rolex “Crown “ or “Coronet” logo with a horizontal line underneath meaning it is an all-steel model with a twin-lock winding crown. Between the two lugs found at the base of the watch near the 6 o’clock you will find the engraved serial number and the words “STAINLESS STEEL” , on the other side of the watch between the top lugs are the words “ORIG. ROLEX DESIGN” and the model number “6426”.

The watch face is a very sharp and clean design featuring a light silver dial with a very faint sunburst effect. Appearing almost a pale white at times the dial can reflect the ambient colour of the surrounding area such as adjacent foliage or even the sky above. The rest of the accents are done in more polished steel giving the watch a fresh modern look. The indices from 1 through 11 are applied silver batons featuring polished sides and polished beveled edges surrounding a finely brushed top. Each hour marker is topped with a Tritium lume pip on the outer chapter ring. There is a fine dash around the edge of the dial marking each minute. At 12 o’clock, in the place of an hour marker, proudly sits a very finely appointed Rolex Crown or Coronet, in polished steel applied in 3D on top of the dial.

On the dial of the watch face, above the placement of the hands it reads:

“ROLEX”

“OYSTER”

And below the placement of the hands it says:

“PRECISION”

At the very base of the watch below the 6 it says  “  – T  SWISS T –  ”

The watch tells the hours, minutes, and seconds with a smooth sweeping second hand. The hands are stainless steel featuring a mirror polish with the hour and minute hand presented in baton style while the second hand has a very fine pointed tip on one end and counterweight on the other going from finest at the tip to marginally wider at the base. Running the watch is Rolex Cal. 1220, a Rolex precision in house movement. This is a mechanical handwind movement with shock protection and a total power reserve of 58 hours.

This particular item is in very good aesthetic and working condition for its age. It winds well by hand and keeps accurate time over multiple days. As far as we can tell the crystal has not been polished and shows very minimal marks or scratches, with just a few signs of age around the domed edge. The case and bezel show a little more signs of wear for its age, however is in a very respectable condition for age and daily wear. The dial is very crisp and sharp with very minor marks, all indices and hands are in great shape. The movement is in superb condition, featuring Geneva striping, dovetail and polished screws. It is also extremely clean and very obviously well cared for throughout its lifespan!

The watch listed does not come with the original packaging or paperwork. However, we are happy to verify authenticity through giving a thorough examination of the watches finer details in person or video call including covering details such as the serial, model, and part numbers and their placement, removing the case back to display the movement for visual inspection, as well as discussing any other pertinent details pertaining to authenticity.

This is a vintage item, and its performance should be taken into consideration with its age. The watch should not be considered waterproof unless tested by a watchmaker first.
