Description:
 
One of TAG-Heuer’s most iconic watches, the first Carrera was designed by Jack Heuer himself and represents the brands long lineage and partnership with racing motor-sports. The name derives from the lengthy and challenging “Carrera Panamericana” races held in the 1950’s. Presented here is one of the most sought-after complications for watch collectors, an automatic chronograph. This modern edition features many classic elements with additional contemporary touches.
 
Presented in a 41mm stainless steel case with 20mm lug width the watch houses the TAG-Heuer Calibre 16 automatic movement. The watch displays hours, minutes, and seconds ( with smooth sweeping second hand in the 9 o’clock subdial ) as well as the date. Also featured on the dial are additional subdials for keeping track of the minutes, and hours ( in half hour intervals) as well as a large center mounted second hand all used for the chronograph function. The dial is covered with a domed sapphire crystal and surrounded by a smooth polished bezel featuring an engraved  tachymeter with the numerals highlighted by black ink. The right side of watch features “pump pusher” chronograph buttons with a large crown in the center ( with TAG-Heuer logo ) used for manual winding of the watch and setting the time. The case features polished and brushed surfaces, and the underside has a beautiful sapphire exhibition caseback displaying the well finished movement inside ( TAG-Heuer Calibre 16 ) with some specifications for the model of the watch surrounding this view. When using the chronograph pushers one can see the movement jump into action and the balance wheel and mainspring keeping track of time. The bracelet features 5 links, reminiscent of the “Oyster” design with 2 smaller links surrounding the central link. The deployant clasp of the watch features the TAG-Heuer logo on one side and two pushers to release the locking mechanism.
 
This watch runs and keeps accurate time. The date turns over as it should at midnight and the second hand has a smooth sweeping motion. The chronograph function works precisely, for start, stop and reset, keeping accurate time over the course of its function. 
 
The watch winds well by hand with smooth satisfying clicks as well as the motion of the wrist and keeps running from morning into the next day with 42 hours power reserve. The watch may have been sitting for some time before coming into the shop as it unexpectedly stopped twice during the first 2 days being checked, however since then it has operated flawlessly with no issues in function whatsoever.
            
That said, this is a pre-owned item, and its performance should be taken into consideration with its age and use. The watch should not be considered waterproof unless tested by a watchmaker first.
 
Also included is a velvet pouch for storage as well as a polishing cloth – both new and unused items.
 
As the watch sold here is a vintage item, it does not come with the original packaging or paperwork.
